Mission & Benevolence
Across the street and around the world, members have many mission opportunities: annual trips to Mexico and South Africa, participation in Hands with Heart Day and Habitat for Humanity, and the giving of time and resources to other benevolent causes.
Our purpose
To carry out the mission of our Lord Jesus Christ to the world and engage members of FPC in service that they may grow in Christ
What we do
• Promote special offerings such as One Great Hour of Sharing, Pentecost, Peacemaking, Joy Offering, and Grace Presbyterian Village Caring Fund
• Give care and nurture to inquirers (folks thinking about ministry) and candidates (folks in preparation to be Ministers of Word and Sacrament)
• Recommend elder commissioners to attend meetings of Grace Presbytery
• Promote Hands with Heart Day, the Mission Market, and Habitat for Humanity
• Promote and support mission trips, J.L. Zwane Uniting Presbyterian Church in Guguletu, South Africa, and a sister church relationship with Church of South India (CSI) Immanuel church in Ernakalum, India
• Provide support for the Youth Village/Prison Ministry
• Provide financial support for agencies such as:
o Pan American School
o Presbyterian Children’s Homes – Itasca and DeSoto
o Good Shepherd Child Development Center
o Grace Presbyterian Village Caring Fund
o Grace Presbyterian Village Operating Fund
o Interfaith Housing Coalition
o Welcome House (substance abuse treatment)
o Hispanic Ministry Program
o Mission Support of Presbytery, Synod and General Assembly
