Congregational Ministries
Within these walls, you will find a community of people who minister not only to the world but also to each other. We take care of one another, and together we learn about the Christian faith. We pray, study, listen, support, and encourage each other in our faith journey.
- Communion to the Homebound - At various times through the year, ministers and elders of FPC bring communion to those members who are unable to attend Sunday services. We offer this ministry during Holy Week, between April 5 and April 11. If you request communion to be brought to your home, please contact Dr. Cynthia Logan at 214-748-8051, ext. 223 to schedule a time for the visit.
- Counseling - The pastors of FPC offer short-term counseling for church members and others. If there is a need for ongoing counseling, the pastors can refer you to licensed counselors and other arenas of support. You may contact directly the pastor whose counsel you are seeking, or you may call the church, requesting to speak to a pastor.
- Grief Resolution - At various times in the year, FPC offers a six-week series to help people work through grief resulting from death, divorce, job loss, etc. Such a seminar will be offered in late spring. Watch this site for more information.
- Kare Kitchen - Delivering food to members in time of need
- Pastors' Aides - Visiting home-bound members
- Prayer Chain - FPC maintains an active prayer chain, composed of church members who commit to praying daily for people in special need of intercession. If you have a prayer concern, you may communicate your need here or by contacting Dr. Cynthia Logan at 214-748-8051, ext. 223.
- Stephen Ministry - First Presbyterian Church is a member of the Stephen Series, which offers Stephen Ministry. When a member of the congregation experiences a crisis, it can be very helpful to have a caring, impartial, Christian friend share the journey through that crisis. Stephen Ministers have been trained in the art of pastoral care, and they work one-on-one listening to the person in crisis (care receiver), and offering encouragement as well as prayer. All Stephen Ministers maintain in strict confidence anything shared by their care-receivers. To learn about Stephen Ministry training, or to request a Stephen Minister, contact Dr. Cynthia Logan at 214-748-8051, ext. 223.
- Volunteer Ministry - Helping members find a place to serve
- Welcome Ministry - Greeting and contacting new and prospective members
