Jeanne is on faculty at Perkins School of Theology at SMU and published The Spirit of Adoption: At Home in God’s Family (Louisville/London: Westminster John Knox Press, 2003) which was awarded one of the Top Ten Books for 2003, Parish Clergy Award.
This study will be hosted by the 21st Century Disciples class, and all film-lovers are welcome!
Lent in the Living Room
Brown Lecturer Anna Carter Florence reminded us that we are called to explore scripture TOGETHER. Using the metaphor of children playing in the sandbox, she reminded us that Bible study should be communal and fun!
With that in mind, we hope you’ll give prayerful consideration to participating in one of the Lent in the Living Room study groups. The groups will meet in homes to look at the scripture texts that will be preached during Lent, and to pray for the needs of our church and community. You can sign up on Sunday morning in the Hall of History or by clicking here.
Venture into prayer this Lent
The study and practice of prayer will be an option for adults eager to grow closer to God this Lent. On Sunday evenings, February 21-March 28, from 5:00 to 6:30, people may gather to learn about prayer and to practice prayer. The primary resource for the 6-week series will be a book by Allan Hugh Cole, Jr., entitled The Life of Prayer: Mind, Body, and Soul. Participants are free to decide if they want to purchase the book; it will not be followed so closely that those without a book will be lost in the study.
Part of the evening will be a presentation on prayer, led by
Everyone hoping to grow in relationship with God is invited to participate. If you have questions, contact

Chorister Camp 2010 - June 4, 5, 6
This summer marks the 31st Anniversary Chorister Camp for children presently in SECOND through SIXTH grade at First Presbyterian. This camp has a wonderful tradition of inspiring and nurturing the children of our church through Bible Study, Music, and Fellowship. Making music is a central aspect of our camp. We will make music joining our voices in singing, and sharing our instrumental talents. We will create music through ORFF-SCHULWERK. We will also have the opportunity of fellowship as we study the Bible, share our creative talents in crafts, cool down in the pool, and play games together. But most importantly, the best thing about CHORISTER CAMP is that we get to know our church friends, children and adults alike, in this informal camp setting! Click here to register.
