India Delegation 2009
FPC sends two delegates to India
For a third year, First Church is participating in the Sister Church program of the Grace Presbytery India Partnership. Our Sister Church is the Immanuel Church of the Church of South India (www.csiimmanuel.org). Both First Church and CSI Immanuel have been richly blessed by this partnership and have grown in our relationship with one another. Previous delegates from our church have been Ken and Mary Jane Cooper, Philip Weigand and Diana Briner. Liz Zsohar, Bonnie Edwards and Julia Boyce have also participated as delegates in the earlier years of the partnership.
On February 3, Miatta Wilson our Director of Children’s Ministry and member, Dr. Lynn Brooks, gynecologist at the VA Hospital, will travel with ten other delegates from around Grace Presbytery to visit with the good people of the North Kerala Diocese of the Church of South India. Lynn says of the upcoming trip, “1 Thessalonians 5:13 and 16 says, ‘Therefore encourage one another and build each other up ... Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus’. I am excited and deeply honored to be a delegate from our congregation to our sister church CSI Immanuel Church in Ernakulum. Both congregations have long histories of sharing the Good News of Christ Jesus by commitment to missions, supporting indigent health care and women’s health care, caring for HIV/AIDs orphans, and evangelical outreach. It is my prayer that our Indian brothers and sisters will be greatly encouraged by the time that we spend with them in their homes, visiting their missions, and sharing the love of Christ through our personal testimonies and witness.”
Miatta Wilson echoes Lynn’s sentiments, “What an honor to be chosen as an FPC delegate to visit our sister church in Kerala South India. I look forward to making new friends and learning from our brothers and sisters at CSI Immanuel Church as I also share of myself.”
